Ministry of Planning Development and Reform is carrying out an assessment of existing status of Civil Registration & Vital Statistics (CRVS) and allied practices for SDGs monitoring in ICT, GB and AJ&K. In this regard a meeting was held at P&DD, GoAJ&K today on 24th January, 2019 where the consultant (Dr. Jasim) had a detailed discussion with SDGs Focal persons and other relevant stakeholders/departments for CRVS – SDGs in AJ&K.
Dr. Aman, the Chief Economist P&DD GoP, visited Planning and Development Department GoAJ&K on 10 August, 2018 and very kindly gave a detailed presentation followed by an open discussion on Punjab SDGs Project. The session was attended by Senior Chiefs, Directors, Chiefs of Sections, Research Officers, Planning Officers, Assistant Directors of P&DD and GoAJK line departments focal persons (Directors and Deputy Directors) for SDGs. The Chief Economist very briefly informed about the institutional of SDGs, key outputs, management structure of Punjab SDGs unit, area of focus, SDGs linkages and leverage points. He emphasized the localization efforts for implementation and achieving SDGs. The Chief Economist highlighted the challenges and lessons learnt during the implementation of SDGs faced by Government of Punjab. He said that partnership is very important for SDGs localization – Institutional Apparatus. He highlighted the progress made by Government of Punjab towards achieving SDGs.
The participants took keen interest in the presentation and asked so many questions to clarify the things. He also highlighted the importance of SDGs baseline and target setting and role of line departments. The participants got a clear idea and understanding from the Punjab SDGs model that how to take forward the agenda 2030 in AJK and what would be their role in implementation of SDGs. The presentation was also very supportive for SDGs support unit in getting base line data from Line departments of GoAJK.
